Both types of breakdown-
Now comes the time to find the difference between the two breakdown
You will know that both breakdowns happen when we give the opposite polarity to a semiconductor.

Zener breakdown –
When we provide a semiconductor in the opposite polarity, for example, the positive on the N layer and negative impact on the P layer, then the electrons and the pole drift away from each other to form an empty layer, if the value of this provided reverse voltage is increased the width of the depletion layer will increase and if this continuation continues, then there will be a potential point that this blanket will be stuck and will make the entire semiconductor one and in the middle of the positive and negative point, there will be only and only the empty layers.
This kind of division is known as the Zener Partition
Avalanche breakdown– In such a breakdown, when the potential of contrast polarity is given to a semiconductor, then the velocity of electrons and poles present in that semiconductor increases in the opposite direction so that the depletion layer is destroyed.
5.1V and lesser zener is based on the zener breakdown and diodes above this value uses avalanche breakdown.
