Everything about electronics
The semiconductor industry continues to push electrification and efficiency improvements, with Infineon Technologies AG announcing its latest CoolSiC™ MOSFET IMZ120R045M1, a 1200 V silicon carbide MOSFET designed for high-power automotive and industrial applications such as onboard chargers, solar inverters, and fast EV charging systems.
This device offers extremely low RDS(on) (45 mΩ) and improved switching performance, enabling higher efficiency and reduced thermal losses — critical parameters for next-generation EV platforms and renewable energy infrastructure.
At the same time, Texas Instruments introduced the UCC28782, a high-frequency flyback controller optimized for GaN-based power supplies. The controller enables ultra-compact designs for adapters, consumer electronics chargers, and industrial auxiliary power systems. With valley switching and advanced burst mode operation, it significantly improves efficiency at both full and light load.
These launches are particularly relevant for India’s growing domestic power electronics manufacturing ecosystem, supported by government semiconductor incentive programs.
India’s EV sector continues to grow rapidly, led by domestic manufacturers. Tata Motors announced further expansion of its EV charging ecosystem in collaboration with Tata Power, targeting additional ultra-fast charging corridors across highways and metro cities.
The expansion focuses on:
India’s EV adoption is being driven not only by passenger vehicles but also by two-wheelers and commercial fleets, creating massive demand for power semiconductors, battery management ICs, and charging infrastructure electronics.
Industry analysts expect India’s EV market to grow at over 35% CAGR through 2030, making it one of the fastest-growing EV markets globally.
Automotive semiconductor demand continues to surge with the rise of software-defined vehicles. NXP Semiconductors is seeing increased adoption of its S32K3 automotive MCU family, particularly the S32K344 and S32K358 devices used in EV control units, battery management systems, and ADAS platforms.
Similarly, STMicroelectronics continues expanding its STSPIN32G4 integrated motor-control platform, combining STM32 MCU cores with gate drivers for compact motor drives in robotics, industrial automation, and EV auxiliary systems such as pumps and fans.
India’s automotive electronics manufacturing sector is expected to benefit from these highly integrated solutions, which reduce design complexity and bill-of-materials cost.
The consumer electronics segment is witnessing a major shift toward AI-enhanced devices. Samsung Electronics announced new AI-focused updates across its Galaxy ecosystem, including on-device AI processing improvements for photography, productivity, and language translation features.
AI processing is increasingly being executed locally on smartphones using neural processing units (NPUs), reducing dependency on cloud services while improving privacy and latency. This trend is expected to drive demand for advanced semiconductor nodes and AI accelerator chips.
India remains one of the largest smartphone markets globally, making it a key region for consumer electronics innovation and semiconductor demand.
Wide-bandgap semiconductors — especially SiC and GaN — are transforming power electronics design. Indian manufacturers are increasingly adopting these technologies in:
The shift is driven by efficiency improvements, smaller magnetics, and higher switching frequencies, which reduce system size and cooling requirements.
India’s push toward renewable energy and electrification will significantly increase demand for advanced power semiconductor devices over the next decade.
